The Importance of Goodwill

Our mission at Thompson Electric is to be the most respected electrical contractor in Tennessee. We do this by leading a culture that applies Biblical principles to business and promoting a workplace that empowers our employees to reach their fullest potential.

Often I define goodwill as doing something that is not expected of you. You could ask the question, what can I do today that is over and above? Something I am not getting paid to do?

One way we do this is by helping other trades on a project. This is not something we get paid to do, but it sometimes is the right thing to do. Some guys buy other guys lunch or give them a ride to work. These are all examples of goodwill at work.

.

The greatest person to ever exemplify good will is Jesus Christ. Imagine this: God almight, King of the universe, Who exists above and beyond time itslef, puts on flesh and walks on this earth. The Bible says He became a Man, was tempted in every way that we were, and dealt with all the challenges of being human that we do. He worked, he sweat, he felt pain both physical and emotional. I encourage you to ask yourself, why would God possibly do this? Why would a King become a Pauper?

The answer is simple; He did it for you, and He did it for me. It was the only way that He could reconcile us to Himself. He desired a relationship so badly with us that He died for us. Now because of that sacrifice we can live eternally with Him, never separated even after death. Peace on earth, goodwill towards men.
